Howdy Y'all down there in texas. I have a question for you.

I am seriously considering throwing my motorbike into the back of a rented uhaul truck in mid-february and driving south with my (passenger) wife - if we go south about 2000 km, we'll be somewhere in new mexico and outside of high elevations, the weather should be sufficiently warm to ditch the u-haul truck, jump on the bike and head to big bend national park in texas for a few days, then head east for a quick visit to a beach on the gulf coast, and then after 10-11 days of driving & riding, end up close enough to an airport so we can fly home to Saskatoon. The plan would be to fly back to my bike approximately mid-late-april and head northeast to nova scotia via the appalachian mountains and the dragon's tail and all that nonsense. Of course I could just wait until spring and ride to halifax, but the idea of the warm texas climate in february is a bit enticing...

All of which will work only if I can find a safe, secure place to stow my bike for approx 2 months starting feb 25. In austin or san-antonio or houston I think?

Does anybody have any bright ideas?

I tried that once in toronto and it ended up being a HUGE hassle and the unit wasn't on the ground level and I had to maneuver it up a freight elevator. etc etc etc. It was cheap, but a PITA - I had wondered whether I could find something a little better and easier - even if more expensive... Perhaps the self-storage units are different in the US...

A buddy of mine owns a storage facility and he has ground level units, ground level climate controlled units and second story units with freight elevator access. Shop around you'll find something that works.

I have plenty of friends in Austin that would help out, I'm sure. Ping me direct email.
