Jack, Steve and I used to ride Royal Enfields together in the SoCal mountains until mine crashed, Jack's was stolen, and Steve sold his to buy something that would carry his girlfriend. I had been waiting for the new Enfield Cafe Racer came to the US, but then Jack told me he was looking at Triumphs, and Steve had already bought a Bonneville T100, so I was tired of not riding and started looking around. I ran across a couple of articles on the V7R and it looked right down the ally for me, as I as looking for another vintage Cafe Racer. (My RE was cafed) I got the V7R a couple of weeks ago and had done a few hundred miles backroading it, then Jack picked up his Triumph Street Triple, and Steve wanted to go on a ride, so Saturday we finally got together for a ride. Jack has a loop he likes to do up the Crest, down N4 over to Mt Emma to Angeles Forest, Upper Big Tujunga to the Crest and over to Newcombs. It's a short ride, but I couldn't ride late so we took that one. It was a great ride, getting a bit warm but OK at the higher altitudes. As we dropped N4 we started giving the tires a workout and I can't complain about the Demons. they were doing an admirable job of keeping my blood pressure and the adrenalin in a calm state. By the time the ride was over, wanker stripes were almost nonexistent. We have a spot up by Mt Emma and Angeles Forest that has a tree that had been festooned with some lucky girls' thongs. They were gone this time but spent most of last year dangling from the tree. Hence the ride name!

We continued on up to on up to Nukem's and they had lunch of some gigantic burritos. I passed as I had an early dinner date.

We left and had another tire scrubbing run down through Wrightwood ,where it was getting hot. At the station at the 138 and I15 Steve gassed up and we checked the temp, 97 degrees! We still had to go down the hill. We rode off the freeway to Devore, then split.
The ride home was a lanes-closed, lane splitting, hot over 100 degrees horror story. But cheated death again and made it. 235 miles door to door. 56 mpg.
