Throttle Body Linkage problem

So apparently I have a pretty unusual situation for which neither my local dealer, nor Moto International has a reasonable solution.

One of the plastic sockets on the throttle body synchronization linkage that snaps onto the throttle body butterflies (?) has gotten loose or has cracked internally such that it will from time to time fall off the throttle body which immediately brings the engine to an idle. I'll admit it was a bit disconcerting the first time it happened, but now I have it double zip tied to keep it in place.

I'm told that the only way to get that piece is to order a replacement throttle body. Seems a bit excessive to me. MI told me about a dealer in Guam having a Griso that had a similar problem in that this same part broke in two. Guzzi Technical Center told them they would have to replace the throttle body as well.

Anyone experience this issue and/or have a solution? Bueller?

try some wreckers/breakers for the part - though the real reason is that the throttle bodies and the linkage are set up on the bench in the factory and not easily replicated elsewhere. Someone worked out a method to do it though, on this site and may be worth a look if you can get the bits.

I don't see what the problem would be. All that linkage does is synchronize both sides, so provided a new end or linkage could be found, set it as close to the same length as possible and fit, then synchronize the throttle bodies with a vacuum gauge or manometer.
Remember Guzzi wouldn't trust the average owner to do this, and it's far more profitable to sell a complete unit.

So long as the throttle stop on the left TB isn't disturbed, this should work just fine.

I thought I'd seen someone with a similar problem on here previously and a metal replace was sourced?

Thanks Todd - I think I have a new (used) set coming from Pete. As soon as those show up, I'll pull the old one and get you the confirmed information. Both those links look good. The metal ones look like stuff I used to use on carbs back in the 60's. I don't think I've seen those ends for a long time, but I'll check with DMP Fasteners as well.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

Oh, and here's my current solution while waiting on something more permanent.

Perfect, get you home and then some. Brilliant fix (the zip tie) 1001 uses...
