Throttle Tube for V7 Stone iii

I changed out my handle bars on this weekend to the DCC clubman bars. I cut my old grips off so I could get my controls off easier and I had bought new ones to replace them. However once I did this, I realized was a big mistake because the stock throttle tube has its own unique end by the switch box. The grips I bought won’t go over this end.

Has anyone replaced the stock throttle tube? If so, which one did you choose? I’m not sure which end I need to have the throttle cables reattach properly and it also needs to be open ended because I have bar end mirrors. I don’t want to buy one and wait for it to get here only for it to be closed ended and have the wrong cable attachment piece.

I’ve also thought about reattaching the stock grips with 3M emblem tape and then wrapping them in leather. The only problem with this is the inevitable gap in the old grip that you’ll be able to see even after I wrap it in leather. Thoughts on this?

Thank you in advance.

I cut my old grips off my V7-III Stone to install Oxford heated grips. Left side was easy, the right side did not want to fit due to longitudinal raised portions on the throttle grip. I had to sand these down in a crude attempt to make the RH grip circular like I thought it would be.

Mine butts up the the unique end by the RH switch box. Sure there's a bit of a gap, but it doesn't worry me, and I'm keen not to have the throttle grip dragging on anything.

I've reinstalled the bar end weights. With your bar end mirrors you must be suffering more engine vibration in the bars? Bar end mirrors are not for me, I like to get the mirrors closer to my eyes so that I can move my head slightly to eliminate blind spots.

Oh ok. My tube has an almost gear like end that made it impossible to get the grip all the way on. I did trim down the raised ring on the outside end so I could get the grip on to start.

I didn't feel too much change without the weights on the stock ends. We'll see what it feels like with these narrower bars.

Forgot to take a picture of just the throttle tube. I ended up buying the aluminum ODI Fusion Throttle Tube from RevZilla. Went on easy. They actually give 2 of the cams the Guzzi uses, but also many others. I haven’t been able to test it out riding since my seat is at the upholstery shop, but the throttle was smooth just twisting it in the trailer.
