I have had my 'new' used 2005 Nevada Classic now for a couple months and am squirreling away the funds for new tires. The originals are still on the bike, and are starting to check (and possibly dry rot), and it's time. For nothing else, peace of mind.

Anyone have suggestions for brand, model?

Riding is for the most part, occasional rides. Usually no more than 100 miles/day. Surface streets, back roads, but very little freeway.

Thanks.

Chris

Stop riding that bike now!!

With that much degradation of the rubber it isn't safe. Tires should be replaced when 6 year old, but check the DOT date code on them. Even if less than 6 years (which I doubt), if the rubber has started to check replace them.

As for what to put in them, anything that will fit is better than what you have. My preference is for Bridgestone BT45s but everyone has their own opinion. Just get some new rubber on that thing and be safe.

I have just put a set of Pirelli Sport Demon's on my V7C after running through 2 sets of Metzeler Lasertec's. The Pirelli's are great and the bike loves them

I've gotten lots of miles out of the stock Metzeler lazertechs, but I know people who rave about the grip of the Pirelli Sport Demons. Your choice.

As others have said, if the tires are checked or have dry rot, then replace them before they let go at speed.

Thanks all.
I had Pirelli's on the CX100 I had years ago. Will probably look into them and the Bridgestones.
Never was a Metzeler fan for street.

Best tire so far for the Breva has been Michelin Pilot Actives. Grip and roadholding are very good so as milage.
I'm comparing to Sport Demons and Laserteks.

I get around 7000 miles out of either the Sport Demon or Lazertech rear's, touring 2 up with full bags etc. this year I got a set of Pilot Activ's, and so far, have put 8581 miles on them, and the rear looks like it could go the same distance again.
I have to say, that I find them just as sticky as the two above mentioned, in the dry or torrential rain.

Take Care Out There.

I second the Bridgestone BT 45's, steady as a rock in the dry or heavy rain, but then not everyone has the same riding style. Would NOT go back to the Metzlers!
