I had quite the suprise this afternoon, a co-worker, Dorothy, noticed my eldo a couple of years ago. She told me I should stop by her brother in law's house, he had some old bikes too. Well, today I took her up on the offer, I went over to a 50 year old house in North Hollywood expecting to see a couple of old bikes. To my suprise, I got to spend several hours with a real legend, Mike Parti. We chatted about guzzi's for a while, then he took me through his 40 year old shop behind his house. he's been married for 50 years, and kept adding on to his house that he bought 48 years ago. he had a cool machine shop with old, old machines, and old stuff everywhere. Vicent racing engines being built up and lots of guzzi stuff. He then took me to the back "shed" where he had at least 25 motorcycles, many of them dating back to 1910 in perfect condition. I was amazed at his collection, then he started talking about his friends like rollie free, bud ekins, reginald pridmore etc... After several hours of bs'ing with hime I was still dumbfounded with his collection, his racing achievements, and how genuine this old fart was. We sat in his yard and discussed engineering bs about guzzi's and I listened to his description of the old days of motorcycling. He's too old to ride now and has a number of old hot rod cars that he drives, uses a cane and still builds vincent engines for folks. He was wearing a greasy tee shirt, smelled like he had been working in the shop all day, and was really fun to bs with. When it started getting dark, his wife's continued harrassment to take her to dinner caused me to depart, he would have preferred to talk bikes all night I think. He said come by anytime and bring friends. He also spoke highly of this guy from down south, some fireman named bill ross, said he was a real nice fella..... When I told him about Bill's bonneville success with the mandello meteor, he was really jazzed. he's got no internet, so I promised to print off some pictures of bill at bonneville, and let bill know that he should stop by...
Here's a pic I took with my phone, but the so cal guys shouls set up a day and go see his collection... and a link to him being entered in the AMA hall of fame.

I'd really like to see all that stuff!

I *think* I might've seen him race out in Simi Valley in the mid-60s, and I remember him being mentioned at a few AHRMA events in the (deep) South in the early-to-mid-90s.
