So.. I have a question. I took my breva 750 to a local mechanic that has had previous people that brought there Guzzi'es there and he has great reviews. I just got the bike, it's an 04' Moto Guzzi Breva 750, and I wanted to get the transmission and rear-drive oil changed just incase. I brought him 2 Quarts of Red Line Heavy Shock Proof to do it with. After it is all said and done he basically gives me back a whole quart. I asked if he was sure he put enough in and he said I filled it until it was level. Er, should I go back and try to add more myself or just let it be? I want to keep this bike for as long as possible! What do you guys think?

p.s. I don't know much about bikes as this is my first so I just wanted a full service to start off right. The bike has 8k miles (he said he tightened the valves a very small amount, new filters, added rear brake oil as it was basically gone, and changed the oils - engine, transmission, and rear drive)

Gearbox holds 1000cc of 75W 90 gear oil, but one quart is close enough. Rear drive 170cc of 85w140 or 75W140 gear oil. For the rear drive the 140 weight is needed. He may have had a bottle of the 140 and didn't charge for the small amount, but I would check with him. I never fill to level plugs, I don't trust them as air pockets can form (I lost a rear drive on an 850T doing that) I now measure the recommended amount and fill. I fill the 750 Breva gearbox while on the side stand, it is easier.

If you add more than recommended it will leak all over your garage floor. Read the owner's manual and you will know all the specifications.
