Our friend Keith mentioned that he was contemplating taking his Griso 11 over to Europe to ride and also compete in the Italia Gentlemen's Griso Cup Series (click pic/link below). He also asked if there might be any interest in a U.S. Round or two, then perhaps an International Race. We might be able to do a East Coast and West Coast Round, then a combined race-off if folks are willing to travel. Any takers/comments?

Todd-

East to West is a bit much for most working folks- time, money, familyy, etc. That said, what about a regional run off?

West Coast: HWY 1 Oregon to SD or something like that.

MidWest: ?

SouthWest:?

EastCoast: I95 run

just my 2cents. I would be interested in a west coast run

I suppose I could search the web and figure out what this about, but that would be more mature than I feel just now. :)

Unless I am the only one ignorant of the original -- always possible  -- is there some good discussion or the like of this event already out there so I and others might see if interested?

Thanks.

Bill

It would be fun, but work demands would likely restrict participation. Also, for me I'd be hesitant to race my only motorcycle, except at 9/10's, which would mean no trophy for me!

With that said, the parts kit seems quite reasonable:

Parts supplied for your 1400 EU are: bikini (nose) fairing, an oil catch belly pan, and a Termignoni slip-on with race ECU.

Sorry for the confusion guys, I've added some info on my top post above. The Griso Cup is an actual Racing Series in Italy. It would be interesting to have a round or two here in the U.S. *if* there is enough committed interest. Comments?

A race down the Blue Ridge Parkway would be awesome....
Count me in.
Seriously, while I am a fan of racing and am currently working on building an Aprilia racebike I can't see trying to race my Griso (or any current Guzzi).
I have been involved in series like the 883 series where everybody is on the same slow pig and we are all trying to teach our pig to fly. It seemed like a good idea but in practice it only frustrated me and pissed off my pig.
I wish MG had gone forward with the MGS01 or even built something as sporty as the original V11. But alas they do not offer any current product I would want to race. I could see riding at a track day, but not actually racing a current Guzzi. And that is a shame.

I've always thought a Blue Ridge Parkway event would be cool...

When I rode the Blue Ridge about 18 months ago, I found it extremely boring & frustrating. Over-restrictive speed limits and numerous cagers dawdling at even slower speeds.

Solve those two issues, and it would be a fine road.

Most of the BRP has a 45 mph speed limit. The cops let you do 10 - 15 over, so 55 - 60 mph is the effective speed limit. That is a nice pace for me on that road.
And most of my time on it has been relatively free of traffic and the traffic there was often moved over to let us by.
Is it a race track, or even a road to prove how good a rider you are, no. but that was a joke about the race down the BRP.

A US round or two would be fantastic! I would love to see it live, don't have a 8v so doubt I could participate but I would love to go wave the flag!

I guess I wasn't so much looking to go racing as much as get some Grisos together for a track day, do a few hot laps for grins and see if anyone might entertain a Euro trip. We're talking vacation here folks. From what I saw of the Cup in Italy, its a bunch of old guys (yea, I can say that) having a little fun in the sun.

Just a thought..........

Its what we make up it. Why not a run starting off in San Diego ending in Monterey Ca. Then doing a track day GRISO, V7s, others etc etc. We can do that and smile from ear to ear from SD to Monterey and while we do our laps at Laguna Seca.

I'm in, I'll start where ever, just need heads up a month in advance to get time off. I'm already practicing for my bucket list trip to Europe. That trip requires a mandatory stop (a week) in Munich for Oktoberfest.
