Used Ebay/Craigslist Griso's

Gentlemen,

I'm strongly considering a 2007-2009 Griso 1100 as my next motorcycle (as soon as I can sell my Bonnie). With that being said, I'll have $8500 green-lighted by the wife to spend on a Griso. After contacting both MI in Seattle and MPH in Houston, both of the preferred dealers don't have any Griso inventory. Here are my question(s):

1. I've heard that unless a Griso is configured by a good dealer who "knows what they are doing" it can be a real nightmare. Should I even consider purchasing a Griso on Craigslist or Ebay? Those are typically within my budget, and I'd get to fly out somewhere and ride it back (which sounds exciting).

2. Beyond the CAM recall and resealing the gauges is there anything else I should be aware of? Basic service should be no problem for me, as I can perform basic services on my Bonnie (and I've heard Guzzi's are even easier).

3. Are there any other dealers in the US which are considered top tier Guzzi dealers? I visited Monroe Motors in San Francisco and they had almost all the current Guzzi models in their showroom and seemed to have their stuff together, at least from appearance and a brief conversation... thoughts?

Thanks.

Cam recall was only for early 8V motors which will be out of your price range anyway. 1100's are essentially bulletproof. If buying an EARLY one as in an '06 make sure it is outside the recall range for the CARC final drive recall or that it has been done. Seal the speedo sensor with silastic or varnish of some sort, dash may mist a bit but it should b evident within 15 minutes of starting the bike hether you've got a good-'un or a bad-'un.

As long as it hasn't been screwed around with by retards set-up and maintenance on a G is a breeze. Buy the VDSTS software from Todd so you can re-set your TPS after a TB ballance, set up the suspension and cane the freckle off it.

As for other dealers? Rosefarm Classics immediately springs to mind and Moto Nexus seem to be getting good feedback too.

Timmy, in addition to above (and more of a nuisance then anything), but the fuel pumps are notorious for blowing off the supply hose. It *should* be replaced with an updated version, or worse case scenario you update the fuel line and clamps for a few $'s.
If you post the VIN# here of any you are looking at, I can get the history run for you.

Good call Todd. I'd forgotten about that one, even though i had a bloke call me just last week when his did it in Woop-Woop!. It's a very easy fix but best to do it *Before* it happens so you don't end up in the desert drinking your own urine which is pretty tiresome.
