Moto Guzzi V100 Stelvio caught on the street, spy photos

Two rather advanced prototypes of what will be the new Moto Guzzi maxi enduro were surprised on the road to Nardò

First road tests for the probable V100 Stelvio

The first born of the new platform inaugurated by the V100, it will be equipped with the same 1,142 cc and 115 HP engine and could be called Guzzi V100 Stelvio. The new Italian maxi enduro will thus occupy the market segment which today sees the greatest sales success and where the new Guzzi will compete with two best sellers such as the BMW GS and the Honda Africa Twin; seems to have all the credentials to do so.

Aesthetically, although characterized by important shapes and volumes, the new Stelvio nonetheless appears rather slender and not too massive. The designers seem to have been inspired not only by the 85TT sister, but also by the Aprilia Tuareg and it seems they have worked very well on the harmony of the volumes, also considering that the engine group and the transmission are an integral part and the fulcrum around which the design of the bike revolves . The LED daytime running light retains the image of the stylized eagle above the two main parabolas, side by side.

TECHNOLOGY— The command bridge has a large color Tft screen, but the main innovations concern the Adas. In fact, the bikes surprised during testing have rear-view mirrors with an obstacle warning signal in the blind spot, with a silk-screened window sticker inside the mirror, while the camera housing for detecting obstacles, braking, and adaptive cruise control. It is therefore legitimate to think of a new and even more complete inertial platform and ever greater electronic sophistication, which should also concern active safety systems such as ABS, traction control and bike/rider connectivity with the interface for to the smartphone.

A complete set of advanced driver assistance systems is expected

THE TECHNIQUE— The new Guzzi naturally retains the cardan transmission and appears rather slender in shape. Although camouflaged, the central part of the bike has a large, rather flared saddle which, together with the slightly pyramidal tank with recesses to accommodate the legs, descends to touch the V-shaped engine heads and seems to ensure ample protection and excellent habitability to riders of different sizes. The front is characterized by a long upside-down fork with generous diameter and a 19" spoked front wheel topped by a minimal and enveloping mudguard , which contributes to giving dynamism and an adventure look.to the whole bike. On the other hand, the plexiglas of the fairing is probably not yet definitive in shape, which will probably keep the upper bracket for hooking up any accessories and the possibility of being adjusted in height. The suitcases are very large, which already seem to be the definitive ones, shaped to make the position of the legs comfortable for the passenger, to whom a large portion of the saddle is dedicated. Given the state of progress of the prototypes, it seems legitimate to expect the official debut on the market of what appears to be a truly interesting all-Italian proposal in the near future.

Nardò is a small city in south of Italy (New Stelvio is developed in Noale, north of Italy) where a high speed track is placed, normally used for new new model testing by car manufacturers. I gues that Also Moto Guzzi is in nardò to make some high speed full throttle test on the high speed ring of Nardò.

I was driving there for BMW Motorsport M3 and M5 in the mid 80’s...
Have not seen any motorcycles there back then...

Will the non-Euro rearview mirrors no longer be steaming pieces of low-grade plastic dung?

Was at a dealership about a week ago....
My brother and I spoke to a guy before and after he went out of the sales office...

Thanks for posting guys. Too bad the motor didn't get the black out treatment for this model.
Wonder if they resolved the oil fill issue(?).

Likes:
No beak front fender.
Black frame.
No wings.

Dislikes (and oh how we step backwards every time):
No stock crash bars on an ADV model is unacceptable. The NTX had them.
Guessing it still has the small ~4.5 gallon fuel tank. NTX was ~8.6 gallons.
BMW GS now at 1250cc.
I don’t need or want the LIDAR. Offer it without to keep the cost down.
Luggage is an “accessory” ?
More only after I ride it. ;)
