One more ride?…

Woke up early Saturday to temps in the low 40’s (F). Bundled up, and headed out on the V100 to meet some regular riding buddies, and a couple guys from the Cincinnati BMW Club. Our group of 6, with 3 Beemers, a KTM, a Yamaha, and my Mandello, headed west for a 250 mile ride in eastern Indiana. Lots of back roads - hitting Friendship, (lunch in) Madison, Versailles, Aurora and a bunch of really quaint small towns!

It was beautiful country, and a good mix of great line-edged two lane roads and single scenic back roads, and several detours(!) - some of the routes I remember (I was not leading today) were, 62, 56, 129, 156, 250, and of course rt 50 (to get back to Ohio), … and a bunch of single lane Co roads😁.

Being a chilly day, I thought I’d test out the hand warmers on the V100. I was not expecting much heat, because of the Grip Puppies foam grip covers. After about 20 minutes (on “3”), though, I could feel some warmth. It never got “hot,” but, warmed my palms enough to knock the cold edge off.

A great fall ride, with some good friends and riders! The V100 ran strong with the cooler air👍😁. And, just so we don’t feel singled out with our V100 side bag issues (I personally haven’t had any🤞, but know from other threads, some have) … In one section of road, I was behind my KTM buddy, when his right pannier fell open, and he lost his jacket. I stopped and grabbed it out of the middle of the road… he quickly realized what happened and pulled over a mile ahead… I caught up, and we got it sorted and reloaded… no more issues. I think all bikes take a beating - especially on harsh, broken and crumbly roads (and nasty expressways). I sometimes wonder, if things that break (panniers, cat/conv bolt, etc) might happen most often on bikes that get regularly ridden on harsh surfaces, vs smooth roads. Pondering🤔.

Great post, BDS.

I missed it somehow, and just now saw it.

Your "my Mandello - 2nd from left” however, seems wrong.

I am no math whiz, as my empty diploma tube proved when I crossed the stage to Pomp & Circumstance back in ’65. I thought that they’d never flunk a senior; it’s interesting how one learns about authority.

My dad once said, tho of course I didn’t listen, “The Army can’t make you do anything, but it can make you wish you had. “ Ditto my Daviess County H.S. principal.

“Yes, Kathi. Almost done here.” Busted. Off to chores. ;)

Haha… well, if one pinch/expands the pic out, you can make out the gold Ohlins forks on the Verde … 2nd “from” left (ie, not “to” left)… between the GS and KTM 😁. Unless I’m missing something😉

My wife’s name is also Kathy, (but with a “y”)… and I get busted all the time😂!
