Not to be an alarmist, but anyone else experience anything like this?

  • Wow

Ive just checked my V100 and there in no discernible movement when lifting the rear wheel as you do. Is it possible for you to check the Swinging arm pin is torqued up correctly. It should be 65Nm +/- 9.75Nm

Context - on YT the owner commented that he rides backroads 'hooligan' style and hit a big pothole at highway speed. Dropped the swing arm out and found a damaged needle in a swing arm bearing which he will replace himself. 10,800 miles on the clock, claims to be riding it while waiting on parts.

I wonder who supplies MG (or the swing arm supplier) with bearings... hopefully not Chinese cheap $hit.

One would hope that they use SKF as they are made in Italy.
SKF is a really old Swedish manufacturer (the bearing was actually invented in Sweden), and they have a factory in Gothenburg.
Dunno if they have outsourced some production though.

SKF is short for:
Svenska Kullager Fabriken (Swedish Bearing Factory in English).
😉

Yes I noticed that too.
The V100 single side swing arm is not exactly a new out of the blue technology, so I am not too worried about this.
If something it could perhaps be a batch of low quality bearings.
But I hope MG hasn’t gone crap cheap China parts for this premium bike.

can't find anything negative on mine with 1600 km, what was the problem???

If he continues riding that bike in that condition then he's going to need more than new bearings.

... it wouldn't be my choice to ride it either. The availability of a matching bearing should be days, not weeks and with the swing arm out why reinstall it before fixing it? Rhetorical question and we each make our own choices.
