Need help! Moto Guzzi i-Convert (17,000mls) Terrible 'clatter' sound, like a bad case of 'pinking' when attempting to accelerate. My beautiful Guzzi won't go past 20mph or rev ....feels like something's pulling me back! The brakes aren't seized and there's plenty oil in the cooler tank. Pulling hand lever to disengage the inverter allows normal engine revving without the clatter noise. Is there something wrong with the turbine/converter? Many thanks.

My mistake. I was unaware that the Convert was an automatic. You learn something every day.

It really isn't an automatic. It has a two speed gearbox, plus a clutch and torque converter. You select low or high and the torque converter does the rest. From his description it sounds like the torque converter is toast. Many converts were changed to 5 speeds when their converters gave out.
