I'm sure this has been covered before, and so I'll apologize in advance,
I Have Michelin Pilot Road 3 - 180 / 55 / ZR17 on the rear. I just found a nail in the tire, so while I am replacing it...
I've read that I can get a little better handling - quicker turn ins, if I drop down to a 170.
I have a 97 1100 Sporti which I LOVE and I like the handling better. I'm trying to get closer to that. Anyway...
    1) Is what I've read accurate?
    2) Any downsides to dropping down to a 170 ?
    3) Seems like the Pilot Road 3 are disappearing - recommendations - I favor tires that are ideal for wet conditions.
    Thanks so much

    1. Yes
    2. No.
    3. Tire threads are always horrific, and never end well because everyone's opinion is right. With modern radials, you really can't go wrong.

Narrower is fine. I've got the earlier 4.5" rear wheel on my V11 and always run a 160 width tire on it.

    3. If the Pilot Road 3 is not available get the 4, also excellent. I'm on my second set.
