Hello all,

I'm new here, so hi! I am not at all all that familiar with Moto Guzzi, but ended up with one in my garage. A friend of a friend was getting rid of V50ii that sat for years, and I really didn't need another bike, but another friend was looking for a bike for his wife, so because the price seemed to be right (which turned out to be totally wrong), I bought it, and promised I'd fix it up for them. As I mentioned, it was in way worse shape than it initially looked, but I'm getting there - rebuilt the suspensions, carbs, brakes, put new rings, cleaned the valves while at it, new paint, new tires, etc. Now as I was putting everything back together, I noticed that the wires from ignition pick-ups are badly corroded. I understand that the Dyna S DS 5-1 cannot be used with V50ii, and one of the major parts supplier tells me that the pick-ups are no longer available. The question I have is what option do I have, if there's any? I'd really appreciate input from people who are familiar with V50ii. Thank you.

Though I'm new to Moto Guzzi, I've been riding since the late 80s. I'm a huge fan of 2 stroke bikes, and still has an RD250 that I built from parts, though my daily ride is Ducati 899. I always liked Moto Guzzi, and my appreciation for it skyrocketed when I started rebuilding this V50ii. The way it's put together is so mechanically simple and elegant, and it's really a pleasure to work on. I can't wait to run this bike.

Hi,

Thanks for suggestions. Harper Moto does seem to have it, but like you said, it's massively expensive. But I must keep it in mind that at least I can seem to get the parts still.

I'm curious, is there anyway to adapt Dyna S to V50ii? Is there any other alternative?

Thanks again!

I gave you a alternative to check into.

I gave you a alternative to check into.
Yes, appreciate the suggestion. I contacted them. Unfortunately, they don't have one for V50ii.
However, I found Silent Hektik makes electronic ignitions that works with V50ii.

Due to the cost, I haven't purchased it yet. In a meantime, I talked to a man who races Moto Guzzi in vintage racing, and he told me that the pick-up in and of itself doesn't usually go bad, and he suggested that I rewire them if possible, so I'll give that a try this weekend.
