Hello members, I recently purchased a V65 which I am currently restoring. I have a question regarding the correct plumbing of the oil breather circuit. I have the long rubber pipe running out of the bottom rear of the sump and also the pipe coming from the breathers on the rocker case. The confusion is that there is an electrically operated unit shaped like a jam tin under the frame near the plug coils which has one outlet the same diameter as the oil tubing and a small diameter breather pipe running to the top rear of the frame. The unit makes a blowing sound when I switch off the key. My concern is I dont want to be pressurising my sump if it is not required. I would be most grateful if anyone can shed some light on this. I am also really battling without an english workshop manual.

Thank you John, the manual seems to confirm that the unit fitted on the bike is not standard. I should have mentioned that the bike is an 83 model that has had the standard airbox removed and replaced with K+N style filters. I will make up a small collection tank similar to the original, the breathers from the rocker covers can feed into the tank and the collected oil can return to the rear of the sump. The only difference then would be the top pipe between the original air filter and the oil collection tank. I seem to have a new problem now, I need to replace my universal joint on the drive shaft. I have been unsuccessful at locating the guzzi size of 20mm x 44mm locally and am not in a position to buy the complete unit as available from the dealers. The cross from the u-joint was badly worn and caught just in time before it let go.

On a different note, it seems it didn't take long to become a Guzzi fan. I started out with the intention of servicing the bike for a friend. I liked the way the Italians have done things differently to the jap bikes so I bought the bike. Im sure I could eventually find space for a few more Moto Guzzi's in the workshop!!

thanks for the assistance
