Good afternoon,
I am trying to make my first acquisition into the Guzzi family.
I have put an offer on a V7 850 GT, the issue is that it mounts a SP 1000 motor.
My question is does it make it harder to sell or lose value?
The bike is good conditions.

Thanks

As long as it's a round head barrell motor (I believe it is), it shouldn't impact it that much unless you are talking about from a collector's perspective. Most 850 owners update to the the larger bore Nikasil cylinders anyway. I can't speak for legal reasons as to matching motor #'s on the vehicle's title in the UK.

should it be stated on the document then?
thanks

thanks, actually there is no record of the engine number on the document.
The motorcycle is in Italy and i am not sure who to contact for "law" related questions.
Do other guzzi have engine number on the document?
Thanks

The loop frame Guzzis have an ID tag on the steering head with month and year of manufacture, and a serial number. Original bikes have a matching engine number. That is until the VIN became the norm. Then the frame would have a VIN, and the engine number was not the same as the VIN. The only relation would be in the factory's paperwork. The paper work for the bike you are looking at has to at least match the serial number on the frame in my non legal opinion. One problem with the SP engine in the loop frame is the alternator cover may interfere with the front fender. It may need to be re-shaped to have clearance under braking, that is unless there was a crankshaft and timing cover swap and you are running a generator.
