V7 III Fuel Cap

They look similar. I fitted the Baak to my V7 850 without issue

Now this is sexy! I've ordered one after my previous message was posted. Can't wait for it to come. Thanks, buddy!

The Motone late model Bonnevile Monza style flip-up cap is likely the same at the BAAK unit. It was the first thing I changed on my V7III. No key needed and you'll never have to chase it across the gas station apron.

Hi, Bill,
Today the fuel cap arrived, I've tried to install it, managed it to install it...somehow.
It seems that If I screw in the filler neck then screw in the cap, the cap's hinge will touch the edge of the tank. I've managed to install it by changing the Monza's seal with the standard fuel cap seal, the second one being a tad thicker but the orientation is not the right one.

Any hints regarding this issue?

UPDATE:
I've turned on my bench lathe an aluminum spacer ring, 2mm thick. It seems that I've managed a pretty good fit.

Nice work on that spacer ring.

With regard to the hinge clearance trouble, I wonder if the BAAK product is slightly different than the Motone item? Other than that, I'd suspect a small difference in production tolerance with the filler neck projection or the depth of the recess around the filler.

The Motone Bonnevile cap that I used shows 90 thou clearance 'tween the bottom of the hinge and the raised lip around the recess.

Thanks! I have no idea if there are differences, but I filed the hinge a little bit, rounded the edge of it just to be sure it clears the lip of the tank
