V7 Side Cover Bag interest

...I find that I only like using the side cover saddle bag for storage of small items that would get lost or fly out of the under seat storage area (for example the GT-Rx oil cap tool [which every V7/V9 owner should have, BTW] - which I unfortunately know by experience will not stay in the under seat tool tray when riding). ...

Hmm .. Mine has been under the seat in the little tool pouch, along with a couple of hex wrenches, since I got the bike. Along with the almost useless peg wrench for the rear shocks...

Hey guys,

Just noticed this thread going on and thought I would share an image of the bag that I've been using. *Note it is a canvas bag, not leather, but also why it was much cheaper.

To answer a few questions:
- I use it to store small containers for lunch and my coffee thermos on my way to and from work.
- With a fully loaded bag it is definitely noticeable at a stop when putting your leg down, but most of my riding is freeway miles and your leg does not even touch the bag when in the (moving) riding position.
- the bag is completely removable the way I attached it, there are 2 straps that span the back of the bag and loop around the frame under the seat. I made 2 more straps for it using a shoulder strap that came with the bag these loop off both bottom sides of the bag and go around the passenger peg frame extension in the rear and right in front of the side panel in the front.
- I've been using the bag since March and have not had any wind-induced smacking of the side panel causing damage.

All this said, Todd, I can certainly see there being a market for an out of the box solution that is roughly the same size as this bag made of higher quality materials.

Sorry for the low quality pic, I can try to get better pictures later if you guys want.

Nice, that seems a useful size, if a bit big for me since I'm around town and in traffic a lot. I think with the amount of time I have to sit at stoplights and such, that large a protrusion would be somewhat annoying on my leg. I agree: it should hardly be noticeable underway since my calf and thigh are forward and above where the bag sits.

I'm taking my time mulling over what I really want, if anything. :)
