Well I am getting closer to establishing the output of this race engine. Hopefully, once a benchmark is established, and I can repeat with some accuracy, I can make changes and see if there are improvements.

Next steps are re-inforcing mounts / adjusters. This thing is really loud but I am not ready to pop the cash for a cell yet.

Alex , is this Porco rosso's engine ?
Is it loud ? mmhhmm would be cool to see ( hear ) a video..... :)

Thanks for posting..
Marco

Hey Marco,

Yeah this is Porco Rosso's engine and it IS STUPID L O U D !!!!

putting the pipes up to ear level isn't helping matters. I built a sound damping box to help piss off the neighbors less... I'll post a pic soon.

Porco Rosso was disqualified from Production Pushrod due to the sencod plug(s) heads. I want to make sure whatever I do with new heads is an improvement.

This dyno is a water dyno for small (<200HP) engines. Ya start the engine, engage the cutch, and add water volume while you open the throttle. It is easy to stall the engine so it is something of a touchy feely thing while watching the gauges, and hoping for no flying parts. The adults put the engine in a seperate box (cell) ... someday.

In this run we recorded 30HP @ 5K RPM. This is not where we need to be but is a milepost along the way.
Check out the gauges... the big one on the left is torque... the small one on the upper right is RPM. We are using 1x1 gearing between engine and dyno so dyno RPM = engine RPM.
Multiply big gauge times little gauge and divide by 1,000 for HP.

Looks like Dr. Frankenstein at the controlls:

Hasn't blown up yet...

That Photobucket link is acting up. Takes a while on my 'puter to load it.

The fuzzyness is my fault (focus etc).

Anyone know how to post a vid on this forum?

Alex

Alex ,

Cool video , and thanks for taking the time to post it here,Please keep on posting stuff ....

Never saw a dyno with water , looks like an old school thing though...

I see you are still running dual plugged heads ? what's your plan for the next Bonneville season ? ....going to run in the category " Production Pushrod " ?

Keep it up , ;)

Marco..
