V7 Winterizing

I'll agree. Having worked in a powesports shop that sold bikes, sleds, ATV, mowers and other small engine stuff-our shop would rebuild summer toys every spring and winter toys every late fall from bad gas. Not all was ethanol. ALL gas gums up. I've seen it close up for many years.

In Ontario (where the OP lives), there is no need to go further than your local Shell station. All Shell "Vpower" 91 sold in Ontario is ethanol-free.

I typically use Shell 91 Octane unless I don't have a choice. That stated, I'll play it safe by filling the tank with, adding the fuel stabilizer and allow it to circulate throughout the system with the quick 5 minute ride home and call it a day. The big question is, how long can the weather hold out...

I'm hoping until the weekend when I can test my new forks. Predicting 8°C and sunny. Hmmm.

The weather in California sucks. It's been more like Buffalo weather without the snow. I flew up to Tahoe/Truckee yesterday with my twin Piper/Aztec and picked up a great deal of ice on my leading edges, it was flying off in large chunks. I've not had ice like that on my wings in years. The mountains sure are pretty covered with snow. About time.

Speaking of flying, @mwrenn and I were talking, and av-gas would be a perfect fuel to sit in a tank over the winter for those who need to. Elkgrichard, so you're a pilot too, nice. I haven't flown in a very long time. Miss it. mwrenn has an aviation shop.

Just wanted to know what everyone's opinion of Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer for the V7. If I'm correct with the amount of stabilizer my bike will require:

Imperial
5.8 gallon tank + .66 gallon reserve = 6.46 gallon total. Therefore I will require 2.58 ounces of Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer (1 ounce for every 2.5 gallons).

Metric
22L tank + 2.5L reserve = 24.5L total. Therefore I will require 77.37mL (30mL for every 9.5L).

I'm way late to this, but perhaps worth pointing out for the benefit of others who come across this thread...

According to the owner's manual, the V7 and V7 II tanks are:

22 litres inclusive of the reserve
4.62 Imperial gallons inclusive of the reserve
5.55 U.S. gallons inclusive of the reserve
