Stumbled on THIS online just now, another V8 Rep in SoCal... enjoy. Anyone know of Jeff Gilbert?

Beautiful!! But Mr. Gilbert has decided to never start the bike or ride it? What a frigging waste. Machinery was not made to sit like jewelry - it was and is made to function. Guy goes to all that touble and expense and just looks at it?? So very sad.

I know/agreed. When Virgil/Solvang got his replica back in late '03, there was originally talks of me racing it at a few select AHRMA events. Never came to be. It sits in his Museum now, though he has taken it to Willow Springs Vintage days and lit it off a few times.

Pic of it from earlier this year (that's a spare crankshaft on the floor by the front wheel);

I agree 100%. Same reason my 1000S had 900 miles on it when I bought it in 1999, but has 75,000 miles now. meant to be ridden, nothing but a waste if not.

Yeah, a friend of mine has/had (he just sold it) a Bimota DB1SR (one of seven I understand) that when he bought had near zero miles on it. It sat in his office for a while but eventually he got it tagged and rode it quite a bit. Not a great road bike but like any bike best enjoyed from the saddle.
