It appears that my bevel drive unit is leaking gear fluid. Today after about 20 miles I got off the bike and smelled gear oil, looked at the rear wheel, fluid was dripping off the drain plug. Couple days ago I had checked that bolt for tightness, had a tiny bit of oil on the wheel. Being the bike is about a month old with a 1000 miles on it, should I remove the wheel and inspect or trailer it the Moto Guzzi dealer?

I'm not sure why they went in the direction to hide the fill and vent under the silly plastic cover.
When and by whom was it last serviced, and was the drive oil changed?
I ask because an overfill would cause this issue. Hopefully only via the vent, but it could cause an oil leak of the seal.
If the drive oil hasn't been touched yet, then a dealer visit for a warranty replacement seal would be needed.

Refills are 160cc. Original 180cc. I think I'd drain it overnight and see how much comes out. I bet they just overfilled it. The factory considers close enough to be their standard. If it continues leaking haul it back to the dealer.

GTM Todd, bike is brand new 2022. Not sure if these are filled at the factory or at the dealer when sold new. The fluid has never been changed. I'll call the dealer tomorrow.

Keep us posted. You should be near or over it's first service, no?

Just did my 900 mile service. new motor oil filter and trans fluid. Also adjusted valves, exhaust were perfect both intakes were little loose. Owners manual recommends trans and bevel drive at 18,600 miles. I'll cal the dealership and let them whats going on and will keep the forum up to date. Thanks for the quick response Guy's!
