On the last couple of freeway trips I notice a high frequecy vibration at about 70ish. It's more annoying than an issue (I hope) but I can feel in in my whole body when it does it. I only notice it while cruising at a constant speed, could it be the throttle bodies out of sync? or just simply that magic speed and RPM combo that is resonating through my Body. I'm realitivley new to working on the bike, but not shy about trying new things. Is a throttle body balance a difficult process that I should leave to a mechanic, or do some research and try on my own? Whet tools are needed for the job if I do decide to go that route?

What is the reading? Mine does at 5000rpm. A 4000rpm it's dead smooth. Between 4500-5000
it's flat(EPA stuff) & at 5000 everything vibrate. I think it'a just a Griso trait.
Alter the rpm just a little bit higher or lower. As little as 100rpm will do it.

Don-M

Don, how curious. My V7C has a "sweet spot" for vibrations at 4k rpm too. This works out to 64 mph. Below that it doesn't really matter, since the engine is loafing and the bike feels good. Above that the vibes can be annoying.

Joe,
On the Griso it's much better because of the way it's geared. 4000 rpm is at about 71 or 72 mph which makes it a good highway speed with normal people. I do admit that as the rpms rise it viabrates more & more. But if I have 500 miles days to do I'm lucky enough to have an Aprilia Tuono to ride which the way I have it set up, is a better travel bike.

Damn... I'm feeling a little left out cuz mine doesn't do that :side:

vibration/harmonics are a funny thing and sometimes "fixing" it can be more luck than skill. Tires, tuning, suspension, combination of all... who knows?

The throttle body balancing is easy, but you need to reset TPS electonically with VDST software (Todd here at Guzzitech sells it)or one of the dealer diagnostic devices. You can buy TB vacuum balancing tools for up to a $120 but I made one similar to the one on Graham's tuning post https://www.guzzitech.com/index.php?op ... 6819#12929 and it cost less than $5 in materials and is more than accurate enough.
Just a note: I had a dealer synch mine while under warranty. While the results were OK, mine were better ;)

Another Breva owner reported that 4k rpm is a problem area for vibrations, and that 4,200 to 4,500 is his smooth spot.

I need to tune the bike, and afterward the sweet spot may change. SMChris, thanks for the link re that issue.

Joe

yeah, and another Norge owner confirms that :silly:

Actually, it's just under 4k that the vibrations are worse

Thanks for all the input, I plan to start aquireing all the necessary tools to work on the Griso. I keep telling Todd that I'm about ready to buy the VDST software, but something keeps getting in the way (PC-V deposit this time) :)

Chris

P.S. YBFAST sent the link, my quote just happened to be above it.
