Hi, just wanted to share my latest addition to the bike:
Vintage Polish army gas-mask satchel (sans gas-mask).
Got it online for less than 20$US.
Comes with straps for originally attaching it to a soldier's battle-vest - I threaded the straps under the seat and through the frame tubes.

I was thinking on waxing the canvas to waterproof it - does someone has some pointers on that?
Cheers,
Hagai

Cheap way to add some storage space for trips. I'll check into those. Not to mention they look very kewl.

Is it ok for bags to rest on shocks like that? I know that people will avoid it to prevent chrome or powdercoat from getting rubbed off the coils but are there any other adverse effects to performance of the shocks??

The canvas bags look great on the bike. I used Canvac to waterproof the canvas top on my FJ40 and it has held up well. The only problem is that it uses turpentine (that eventually evaporates) to keep the wax in a liquid solution. One backfire and you may go up in a ball of fire, but at least you'll go up in style. Just one more reason to get your ECU re-flashed first.

Looks great! I've done a similar thing on my Racer. I went with Swiss Army surplus stuff. The stuff is high quality leather well made and matches the leather strap on the tank just about perfectly. Better than any of the new stuff I've seen on the market. It's not as functional as the big HP bags that some folks mount but my bike is not meant for touring. I just need a place to stash some small things and these work perfectly.

I found one like that left side pouch the smaller one on e bay and the guy wants $49.90 for the pouch, it ships from Austria and the shipping is $22.00. Total is over 70 bucks.

Is that a good deal or can better deals be found on those pouches?

That's about what I paid, they are not cheap. But consider this: they are high quality. The small bag of mine is a ammo pouch manufactured in 1965, the larger bag is a messenger pouch manufactured in 1975. Judging by the workmanship, I wouldn't doubt by hand. That's worth $50 bucks in my book. I've seen new leather bags that are the same price or more, and I doubt they have the same quality of leather or workmanship. Worth the money in my book. I have not been disappointed in my purchases. You can search for cheaper, but I doubt you will find it.
