So I am checking out a G5 with supposedly 10 miles on it. I wanna lube up the cam followers and rod ends before I turn this over for the 1st time in 30 years (in theory).
While attempting to get the cylinder back over the piston I came across something I havn't seen before. A warped oil ring! It sticks in the piston groove at one point ... and does so installed upside down and in other pistons.
The green in the photo is a sheet of glass. The brown specs are sawdust. I took this pic in an area I use for wood work...
I am glad that I discovered this before I fired up the engine. I wonder what caused this?
Alex
