Hi ALL,

Big most annoying prob with my V65GT - since 'day 1' is that the tiny drain pipe from recess round filler cap, supposed to ensure this can't happen, is blocked up!!

Anyone any advice how to clear out the rust/paint or whatever so I can venture out in wet as fed up cleaning fuel filters of rusty muck etc.

Difficulty due to fact that this drain pipe is formed into a circle around filler neck and there's a 90 deg bend at each end as it goes straight.

The only thing I can suggest at the moment is to take a suitable thickness and length of copper wire (30 amp household?). Bare a short end to act as a cutting edge and push it through the offending drain pipe. Perhaps a squirt of something like WD40 might make it easier to work through. Can't hurt to try as copper is pretty soft and shouldn't cause any damage inside.

Check the hose leading from the underside of the vent. They are often crimped under the gas tank.

Paxo's idea of squirting solvent down there may help, particulary if the spray can has a thin plastic extender, so you can direct the spray better.

I'll be really surprized if this crud can be removed with a piece of copper wire or any solvent.

I experienced this on my 1100 Breva, and had to dismantle the breather orifices under the tank (where the hose connects to) and drill the sucker out. There was no easy solution.

Thanks All -

Have actually managed to clear pipe following Paxo's advice but only after 'bout 3 hours jabbing from both sides,

And, Sign216, I didn't know the outlet end of this pipe was supposed to connect to a hoze.
(No prob as water never came out anyway),

And Kiwi dave, yes, copper was too soft/bendy so finished up using something harder/stiffer -
actually a strip of silver solder wire approx 1.5x1mm.

Thanks lads

Glad you managed to sort it out eventually. Isn't it nice when someone takes the trouble to say thanks for helping! :D
