I just noticed this "seam" on my V7C as I was checking my final drive for leaks. Does anybody else have this?

Is it possible for that seam to leak? I took my bike to Jim at Rosefarm, and he said the inside hub was dry. He replaced the drain bolt washer, and I still have leakage after my 60 mile ride home.
Here's a pic of it:

My recollection is that the "seam" is a casting mark, not a seam from the joint of two pieces meeting.
You can't get a leak there, unless there's a crack or hole in the cast metal itself.

Moto F, take off and check your breather bolt up top. I found that mine was blocked. A blocked breather will promote leaks. It's an easy check and an easy solution.

You may be unlucky and have a porous casting. They were not uncommon in the 70s but I haven't heard of any lately. The old fix was to disassemble the box, Thoroughly clean the inside and coat the inside with an epoxy to seal it up. Another possibility is the gaskets for the case could have been nicked on assembly and are now leaking.

It's under warranty right now, so that's not an issue. The problem is that Jim at Rosefarm is backed up for about 1 month, and I have no idea how long it would take to get what parts are needed.
I'm trying to troubleshoot the problem to speed up the service needed. I'm hoping I can ride it like it is until winter when Jim will have plenty of time to work on it.
Some days it doesn't leak at all, and some days it's just awful. Here's a pick from the WI rally about 1 month ago. It leaked on the 3 hour ride there, but not on the 3 hour ride back. I drained the fluid and measured after the ride, and it was slightly less than the 170cc that it takes. Luckily, there wasn't oil on the tire.

I would check the breather as Joe suggests, go for a ride get the the rear drive hot the unscrew the breather, is there any sign of pressure being released when you first loosen the breather ?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that the breather was cleaned out. That was the first thing that Jim did.
I will take it for a ride and check it as you suggested. Thanks!

Leaking seals are not uncommon on the newer 750's.

There are 2 - or 3, depending - in there. The fix is a renewal of the seals.
