What's Stopping the 8V Norges from Revving Out?

I have a new 8V Norge, which I quite like, however I'm curious as to why it stops pulling at around 7200 rpm when the Griso, Stelvio and, the 1200 Sport (which I believe are all the same engines), are all happy to rev to around 8000 rpm.

A few questions/thoughts:

1. Does the 1200 Sport have the same ECU mapping as the Norge? I ask this because I'm wondering whether this inability to pull past 7200 is Moto Guzzi's cheap way of speed limiting the Norge as it obviously comes with large windscreens and panniers, etc.

2. Does the 1200 Sport have the same airbox arrangement as the Norge?

3. Do we know whether the exhaust of the 1200 Sport would bolt onto the Norge?

I just find it a bit frustrating that Moto Guzzi would develop an engine that's quite capable and happy to rev to 8000 rpm, but then restrict it to around 7000 rpm (regardless of where you set the red line) on the Norge.

I would appreciate anyone's thoughts/opionions on the above. Note, my bike has about 1700 kms on it.

I forgot to mention the other day, and I could be wrong, but if the Norge has a Rev limiter, and mine is set to 7200 at the moment, I'm not sure if it will actually limit the rev's or just give you a warning. Perhaps try setting the limiter to a higher rev count and try that. Just a thought

No , All it does is give a warning to whatever RPM you select it to do.

Congrats on the N8V.
1. I have yet to get a look at both, but I would assume so. As to power, the answer would be in the first two digits of the engine no's.
2. Yes
3. Yes, but I believe they are the same outside of (possibly) the muffler.

Your answer for power & revs lies in the cam/cam timing and mapping... as well as the ECU declared rev limit (not the adjustable user-revised shift light). I have the data on the Norge 8V mapping, but not a Sport 8V (takers?). I can be of help with this if you care to contact me direct; Todd at GuzziTech.com
