Considering increasing the rollout on the race bike by putting on a taller rear tire.
Currently using a 110/80 18 Avon that is shaved.
The tallest tire I can find (so far) is a 110/100. However a 4.00/18 seems to be taller according to some sites.

The 4.00 /18 is a 1.00 aspect and my math sez 4.00" = 101.6 mm. So we would have 101.6/100 in metric. That should have a smaller circumference than a 110/100.

So, how wide will fit? The 110 fits. I dunno about a 120. The rear brake link is already mounted on the outside of the front mounting tab. I spoze I could shim it out a bit...

    Whatcha thinks?

Alex, You will have to check the actual brand of tire for sizing. Metric sizing can be off by as much as 10mm from the stated size. I got this information from a tire seminar conducted by Bridgestone tire. That is, a 110 tire, could be anywhere from 120 to 100mm wide depending on who made it. For most bikes, a 5mm difference on each side isn't a big deal, but you are on a bike where you don't have that much room.

    Hey John,

Yeah I've been reading up on different brands and specs... so I wound up ordering a Full Bore M-41 RT Dual Sport Rear 110/100-18 via Amazon. Should be around $60 ... cheap!

We'll see how tall it actually is.

    Hi De Ho!
    yeah they will, I think.
I put that Full Bore tire on the Eldo (same wheel) and it is scary. A little too off roady maybe. But it IS taller.

But the race bike is broken right now so I'll not know how it works on dirt or salt maybe till next year.
