When did disc front become available for V7 Sport?

I am considering swapping back to the disc brake front end on my 73 V7 Sport. I use the bike for Land Speed Racing and the class rules (P-PP) mandate that whatever components are used must have been available to the public, installed at the factory, during the year of production.
Disc brakes, I believe, were available in 73. Does anyone know if that is accurate?

Thanks,

Alex

Never mind...

per Ian Falloon "Sport & Le Mans Bible"

pg 152

V7 Sport USA Disc Brake 152 sold in 1973. None in Europe.

hmmmm

"Moto Guzzi Big Twins" by Greg Field does not agree with that. Under the heading "1974 V7 Sport" it reads: "Some early 1974 Sports have the four-leading-shoe front brakes, but part-way through the production run, dual-disc front brakes became standard."

AFAIK, there was a kit available from the factory earlier to convert drum brake bikes, but no '73 came from the factory that way.

Hmmm. Like working with dead sea scrolls.
Think I'll weigh the drum set up, and compare with disc. I thought the disc would provide weight advantage (<weight) but it seems, as with all else, the situation is complex.
Reading more, the factory setup (or available option) was dual front disc. Heavier and heavier.
Also, I would rather avoid needing to explain to the course inspectors, WTF is up with the disc brake... and prove it was a factory option for that year and model etc.

Fun in the sun...

Happy Thanksgiving.
