The Veglia finally died out right after several years of being inaccurate. Should I go with an OEM Replacement and see how long the tach lasts or buy the Dakota Digital kit that is a speedo a tach and part time dish washer?

That would be the white face I believe. Those usually hold up OK. I'd say the choice is yours. If it were the later black face speedometers, I would definitely try something other than stock.

I have heard that the Tachometeres are frequent problems. They are pricey, that is why I was thinking of the upgrade. I prefer the look of the white faces as opposed to electronics though. Call me old fashioned.

Are you the original poster with two accounts? I'm confused. The topic says Speedo, then you mention Tach. Which is it? And yes, the white face tachometers are weak. Since the bike is fuel injected, you don't really need Tach. The ECU has a build in rev limiter. If you look at a Jackal, it doesn't have one.

I am the original poster. Long story about the two accounts. They were going to merge them at one point. The speedo is the broken piece right now. I had heard the tach is a weak link so I was debating on the electronic combination unit to preemptively replace the tach.

If you want an alternative to the stockers, there is a company called Speedhut. They sell speedo's and tach"s (and combo units), primarily for cars but more than a few people have used them on Moto Guzzi's. They have even made units with the Guzzi logo printed on the face.

They offer GPS speedo's as well as electric speedo's.
They offer all kinds of custom colors and options, including the aforementioned logo on the face.
If you tell them it is for a motorcycle they will do extra sealing for water resistance.
They seem like good folk.

Thanks for the information. I will check them out.

Thanks for the information guys. I ended up going with the OEM replacement (easier to swap one for on with limited time to wrench). It seems to be a lot more accurate than the last one (6% optimistic). Hopefully it will last a few miles.
