Question #1:
Does anyone know the bolt size for the upper shock mounts on a Jackal??? I would think they were the same on most Tonti frames. Both of mine fell out.....leads me to believe I forgot to tighten them last time I put the pillion pad on....

Question #2:
Does anyone with a Jackal, or similar Tonti frame, have a problem with the right side header hitting the motor mounting bolt. Mine does, and it sets up a very irritating resonating ringing at a certain rpm range, somewhere between low and mid throttle. Every time I back off on it, it goes through this ringing routine for several RPM.

I already did the "Loosen the header, and tap in a wooden wedge while re-tightening" routine........lasted about two weeks.

I was thinking of putting high-temp RTV on the end of the bolt to make a cushion that wouldn't be too obvious.

Tim, the shock bolts are annoyingly small/odd ones; M6 x 1.0 x 15 button-head allen. - I tapped mine out to a more reasonable size.

For the exhaust, loosen up *both* headers and mufflers, try the same wedge trick... leave it in, and snug everything lightly back down.

Yeah....thanks, Racer X Dude......BTW...did you sell those Tonti frame rails? I need to move the footpegs back, so I want to start rounding up the parts to do that.

Tim,
I think they are related to the engine installation tolerances in the engines and the variations in the pipes. Since I've crashed my SS a couple of times and got new headers, they fit a bit closer or further from the bolt, so there is variation. on my new one, i gave it a simple calibration tap with a ball peen hammer and all is good. I have several right side header pipes in varying conditions and appearences, you can try em out and see if one of them works better
Cheers

Prego.
Yes, still have the rails, but they are mint Stone rails... so not sure what you're looking for... HOWEVER, I still have a couple of my old rear-set brackets that will move your pegs 6" back... they use your stock shift/brake arms and pegs/brackets. Think I have two or three sets left in raw steel, and one in black anodized aluminum. Ping me direct if you're interested in a set.

Thanks!
Actually your comment reminded me that I did the wedge trick on a cold header, but I had noticed that when it is hot, the whole mess comes together, with no clearance....maybe if I do it while it is hot, it will keep some clearance......
