Why the ENI sticker on our guzzis?

I know this is a silly and probably pointless question but I'm stuck at home in freezing winter weather and a bit bored lol!
Why does guzzi put the ENI oil sticker on (I'm assuming) all of their guzzis? Is it because they own or partner with ENI oils and want you to use the product? Is it expected to be quickly removed and discarded along with the other warning decals?

I had left mine on my mgx because I thought it looked kinda cool, but I've just removed it from my eldorado as I think the bright yellow sticker looks abit out of place on a classic looking motorcycle

$$$$$$$$ They give Guzzi $ for recommending their product for use in Guzzi motorcycles, they now recommend Shell oil (what I heard) They had Shell stickers on late 60's Guzzi's. Seems the Italians like that sticker thing, better than a big #7 on the side.

The tale of the six-legged dog!

My EV did not come with any sticker, but my Ballabio and Norge had Agip stickers, tho ENI had by then acquired Agip. Yet another example, I suppose, of Mandello's seemingly inexhaustible parts bin!

My Griso and both V7's came with ENI, AGIP's parent company.

The Agip and now ENI logo with its "dog with bad breath"
:giggle:
has an interesting history; see The Six-Legged Dog & Agip/ENI logo.

I have left my Agip and ENI stickers on for "sentimental" reasons, as I filled up my 1976 FIAT 131 with Agip fuel when I lived in Italy "back in the day."

The expression on the faces of the Agip attendants when they lifted the hood to check the oil -- ah, the good ol' days ;) -- were priceless. They were dumbfounded by the EPA/California snake pit of hoses, etc. I had bought the 131 new in Virginia, shipped it, à la coals to Newcastle, to Italy, then brought it back to the US three years later.

Folks like to make fun of FIATs, but I put 200K+ miles on it, mostly in Italy and the reset of western Europe. No rust and ran great. Only sold it because our family outgrew it. Can't remember if it had an Agip sticker anywhere, but it got that at all changes.

Bill

P.S. This is NOT a diversion to a dreaded oil threadI :lipssealed:, but I used Agip and, later, ENI (Ride) 4T 10-60 in all but my EV as long as I could get it. I still have about five liters left in unopened bottles. Now, mostly use Motul.

So if guzzi is making a little bit of income by slapping a oil brand sticker on their bikes, I've no problem with that. Thankfully it's small and peels right off if the owner wants to remove it. I guess what's odd to me is they put them on all their bikes vs putting them only on their sporty type bikes, etc.
Interesting stuff! Thanks guys!

ENI is the Mobile Oil of Italy.

The bikes are made in Italy.

It is the oil in your motorcycle when it leaves the factory and also the recommended lubricant in the owners manual.

That is why.

They tend to change the recommended oil.
My 1200 Sport recommended Agip, I think.
My V85TT has Castrol as the recommended fluids.

I didn't have oil stickers on either of my Guzzis, both bought new. Perhaps the dealer removed them before I took delivery.

I think I got some ENI ones with an order of "Ride" a year or so ago. If you pine for one or to, I'll look for 'em and send. :)

And I guess it's only a guzzi thing and not vespa or the other piaggio owned brands. I bought my first vespa last year (new) and didn't see the sticker anywhere on it
