Hi everyone. I’m back after a few years. I lost my login and have been a slacker in signing back up to the forum.
I’d like to share with you a design I made up for the screws to mount the Givi A770 windscreen on my Griso 1100. It would probably fit other screen models also.
Initially I had attached the screen by using the original headlight mounting screws as many others have done. This poses two problems. Firstly the screen is not secure and can swing forward and back as the mounting bracket basically sits on very little surface area afforded by the raised face of the headlight support. Secondly it causes the vibrating sound in the headlight that has driven many of us insane. This is because using the original screws to mount the screen does not provide the correct pressure points for the headlight assembly. Another forum member has also alluded to this.
After riding around for about two years with the extremely annoying vibrating sound I finally snapped and decided to fix the problem once and for all. I tried all sorts of other pathetic arrangements with spacers, washers, etc. See attached drawing. This one works and holds the screen securely in place. Also attached is a photo of the screw installed.
