Dear all,

I'm located in Turkey/ Istanbul, and the weather is getting pretty cold out here :)
I used to own a H-D Iron 883 before my v7 Racer, ı never thought of how to take care of it in the winter..

Now, I want to take good care of my v7 racer as much as possible

Previous owner of the bike had a rust issue on the chrome tank (replaced the old one), therefore taking care of the gas tank is my first priority/concern. Please share tips how to take care/Clean Racer chrome tank.

And also any tips for the winter will be appreciated :)

I park my V7 under a cover in the garage to try and minimise any temperature variation. Oily rag in exhaust ends. 'Vapour oil' in fuel to protect the tank - with a full tank of fuel. Battery out and on an OPtimate.
Before putting it away I make sure it is clean and dry and has had a good hard run to dry the oils out. I spray Duckoil / ACF50 on anything that looks like it needs it.
I NEVER start it up mid winter as doing that will only put condensation in the engine.
If you are really paranoid take the plugs out and add a little oil, and refit the plugs after turning the engine over by hand via the rear wheel. Then turn it over again once a month. Will smoke on start up in springtime!

My BMW airhead gets used throught-out - so it is sprayed with Duckoil and ACF50 - seems to last OK. So if you wanted to you could ride through winter.....

Do a twenty mile run once every 10 days or so. Istanbul is warm enough for that to be no hardship provided you have decent riding gear. It's warmer than Leeds.
