Wire gauge question V1000 G5

I've replaced the fuse panel with a Motogadget M-Unit V2.0. Tested most of the new circuits and they're working fine. The run/off switch, however, is not working. I'd had it apart, cleaned up contacts. Seemed to be hanging by a thread, so not surprised that it's not working. I have an aftermarket handlebar switch I'd use as a replacement, but it's got some fairly thin gauge wires. From switch, wire goes to coil control device. Can I get away with thin gauge wires to the switch or am I going to fry them? How much current goes through the coil control device?

Thanks,

Frey

I don't think you want to use anything smaller than 16 gauge wire. I don't think the amperage draw is very high, but you don't want any voltage drop from wire resistance. Perhaps an electrical engineer on the forum can give you a better idea of the gauge that should be used.
