Zard muffler finish

Hey all,
just got a Zard muffler for the Griso and it has a matte finish that looks to me like BBQ paint (not what I'd really expect from such an expensive piece) and picks up fingerprints rather easily.
For those that have one - are there any cleaners / chemicals to stay away from? i.e. will I stain the finish if I clean it with windex / carb cleaner / WD-40 / whatever?
Also, any experience on scratches? Looks like it'd be rather easy to scratch. The top of the mounting tab already has lost some finish because it must've rubbed something during shipping.

I quick addendum to my previous post: I'd like to recant :)

After 2 months the finish has proven to be very durable and has not changed color in any way (from heat, road spray, whatever). Also, the mounting tab turned out not to be worn through - there had been a tiny bit of paper or something stuck on there that I was able to scrape off with a fingernail.

The sound, with DB killer in, is very good and (to my eye) the pipe really fits the GRiSO look.
