I know this is a "sport tourer", made for the tarmac. I'm wondering if anyone has had it in bad road conditions/off road. Wondering how it would handle a well groomed trail? Gravel? I know it will handle miles better than my Harley RKS; but would love to hear from any of you with experience. I had considered very seriously buying the V85TT a couple years ago but was not a huge fan of how it felt on the road. Most of my riding is on tarmac - can't do much more with my Harley. I will be test riding this beauty on saturday. Can't wait. Thanks

This will mainly come down to rider skill. It is a tall and heavy-ish bike. Perhaps better to wait for the new Stelvio, unless you want more of a plated dirt bike(?).
My instant response is that it will do quite well on unpaved/smoother roads, including packed gravel. That said I have extensive time on HD’s in everything imaginable, and they did well also. Really depends on what you’re looking for/to do, so it’s a bit of a loaded question.
Expand.

Thanks for the input. My HD is about 1,000lbs fully loaded. Without the tour pack it’s probably close to 900 lbs. I’m hoping to find the V100 much lighter at 500ish pounds. I admit the handling on my Harley was do-able on loose gravel but not fun - at least in my hands.
I will definitely look into the new Stelvio.

To expand ….. I have been really looking to get into off road stuff - I’ve got friends with BMW GT, Honda Africa, V-Strom etc…. Who have been pushing me a bit. But the drive to go that route has been fading. So I’m maybe more interested in a bike that can handle packed dirt and gravel roads when I run into them from time to time as opposed to hard core mountain climbing.

It will be used as a commuter bike mostly. But what a fun commute I have!!

I've ridden my Mandello on a few decent gravel roads. It was just OK. I think different tires would make a big difference on gravel. The bike was uncomfortable in the weave. These same gravel roads work out much better on my V85. I don't think I'd want to ride anything rough with the Mandello.

One odd thing I've noticed is that I catch more gravel hitting my boots with the Mandello than with other bikes I've ridden on gravel. That makes me nervous about the radiator.

Of the bikes I've owned recently, the best ones on gravel have been the 2023 V85 and the 2012 Wee Strom. The worst have been the two 2014 CTX1300s. The Niken GT was sometimes happy on gravel and sometimes scary on gravel. I kept it mainly on the pavement.

I rode mine for som kms on unpaved and quite stoney road, it was not fun, I was scared of something hitting the engine or the radiator.

I've had my V85TT for a couple of months, and it's very good offroad, handles dirt/gravel roads just fine. Here are some pics on a recent ride to Lochiel AZ. Most of this was hard-packed dirt, small rocks, a couple of easy stream crossings, nothing too extreme - though I'm confident it will handle anywhere I want to take it. (I'm a double-track trail rider, fire roads, etc. - I'm not a hard-core enduro rider).

My gravel driveway is about 100 yards long, and the V100 handles about like any larger street bike under the same conditions.
The weight of the bike becomes more noticeable compared to some of my other bikes. Not something to be too concerned about, but definitely not the kind of riding I'm looking for on this Moto Guzzi. :)

the V100 looks kinda similar in terms of position and handling to my Breva 11, I've ridden that on thousands of kms of gravel.

I find it fine, I just go kinda slow. I'm on a pair of Dunlop Road Smart tires right now, which are strangely bad on gravel roads though, much worse than my various Michelin Pilots... which don't make any claim to dirt road competence either, so... 🤨
