Sport1200
Tuned and Synch'ed
Had a bit of fun with a stripped drain plug on my Sport1200. Helicoiled now and is ace. I wanted to make sure that I redid the thread with the standard pitch. The plug in my bike is M10 X 1.5. Because mine was stripped I suspected it may not be the correct plug.
The Guzzi manuals (many of them!!! Breva 850, 1100 and 1200) state the following for the plug:
GU31003766 Oil unload plug M10x1
AF1 for example and many other dealers state the same, however non-genuine replacements are M10 X 1.5.
So I was confused. Called nearby Guzzi guru- Tom Newell at Don Newell Moto Guzzi and he said that the plug is M10 X 1.5. So it must be a misprint in several manuals. Quite a problem because the plug can be in three places on many Guzzis- Engine, Transmission and CARC drain. Be a bugger if you Helicoiled to M10 X 1.0 (which are hard to get anyway, 1.5 not) and your plug didn't fit.
