Ok so we know the ecu has the ability to read the engine temp and the VSDT can display the engine temp.
Has anyone figured out a way to into that so that we can have a engine temp gauge for these bikes?

It depends on which temperature you want to read. Since it is air/oil cooled there are several temperatures you could collect. Oil temp in the pan, cylinder head temperature, cylinder temperature (more or less what the ECU reads), and also and exhaust gas temperature similar to piston driven aircraft. In the end, what will these temperature tell you? Probably not much. It is possible the oil temperature in the pan (easy to put a probe down the dipstick hole) would tell you the most. You do want to make sure your oil gets hot enough to vapor off contamination, 220-240 degrees F.

So there is no ready made kit to do such?

The only one I know of was a dipstick with a temp gauge on the top. I don't know if they are still being made. You could call Harper's Moto Guzzi. I believe they did sell them at one time, and may still.

Gee ...about a year ago some one was trying to get the dash to display the (cylinder)? temp...cant remember if they were using the original signal or another?
They were trying to calibrate it to the air temp range or something. Buggered if I can remember who :S

Just found the post ..try https://www.guzzitech.com/forum/topic?f=196&t=8098&hilit=engine temp
