Thanks for the advice. I found some 1/16" rubber sheets and switched the brass sheets for the rubber. It seems a lot better.I cut up an old inner tube.
What Immandel said...they are 13/16 aka 30mm...it is a metric bike afterall.
They are metric so I bought kuryakin pegs and added a rubber strip as a shim
Original for Honda GoldwingFYI, this is what I am using (get the 1 1/4" sized clamp (you WILL need to shim it to fit the MG OEM bar).

That looks like a super sweet setup, dennisj! Thanks for the great photos and info. I will be ordering the same Kuryakyn setup as you. The part numbers were super helpful. Here is an update to an earlier post I made on this thread. I had originally used waxed cable wrap string around the 30mm engine guards to mount my 1.25" Kuryakyn Longhorn Offsets and Switchblade pegs. This actually (sort of) worked back in January and February when the temperatures were low. However, it did not last, as the weather warmed up the pegs began to slide around the guard pipe.
My solution was to use Aluminum sheet metal wrapped around the engine guard pipe. Here is a source for the material I used:
Amazon product ASIN B00HRHB0SA
Here's the math:
30mm engine card diameter = 1.181102362", subtract this from 1.25" Kuryakyn 1.25" clamp gives us 0.068897638" or, rounded, .069", however .070" sheet metal is impossibly hard to work with, and it is not necessary as the clamps are not completely round and as it turns out .040" Aluminum is just perfect for this application and much easier to work with. This is the setup I currently use and my footpegs are anchored tight to my engine guards.
If anyone needs some of this material, I have extra and I can send you some in an envelope. Just send me a request via contact info in my Profile page.
