Oil Sump Removal - Oil Change

Just wanted to hear what everyone's opinions in regards to removing the sump during an oil change, do you remove and drain it? or just drain with on?
I had noticed a few 'How To' videos online and some guys remove it as the groves at the base still hold oil after draining via drain plug and filter removal.
 
Why would anyone bother removing the sump?
I just drain oil and change filter job done.
It doesn’t matter how particular you want to be there is going to be some old
Oil somewhere in the engine so I would just change oil as set out in guzzi manual.
One thing I’ve learned in life is that nothing is perfect and you can waste a lot of time
On dumb stuff thinking you can make it better.
 
The only thing I remove a cover on is the differential cover on my truck. Removing the sump seems like chasing a rabbit down a very long hole, not to mention additional time and money to reseal it.

May as well remove the engine, disassemble it and clean all the oil galleries out......where does one stop?
 
Yup, I've never thought of doing it - thought it was odd watching a few guys on YouTube take it off and clean.

I replaced the sump on all of my Tonti bikes, when I had them, with a G&G deep sump that used a spin-on filter screwed in from the bottom externally. Dropping the sump to change the filter was too much of a PITA. :D
