Torque Spec for Valve Lash Nut 15nm + 42nm?

I'm due to perform the 1st service soon. Is 15nm pre-tighten and 42nm final-tighten the correct torque for the valve lash nut?
 
NO!!!!!. That sounds like the torque values for the actual head.

Do not try and torque the valve adjustment lock nut. Just needs to be wrench tight.

Ok, sounds good. Thanks for clarifying, I might have torqued it down. It sounds like it's best to use a std small ratchet and the natural torque meter built into one's own wrist on these bikes... at least for the smaller nuts and bolts.

I was just reading a spark plug thread on some Guzzi forum from a couple yrs ago where a shop manual said 30nm (!) for spark plugs. The rule of thumb that emerged in the discussion was 12nm (NGK's recommendation) or just snug them using the torque meter built into one's own wrist. But still couldn't determine from that thread whether anti-seize paste is typically recommended on the plugs or not.
 
Anti seize is never a bad idea on plugs, although it really isn't necessary on the Stelvio. Now if this was a Ford 5.4 V8...
 
Anti Seize is not needed on the NGK plugs and NGK actually discourages its use due to over torquing. They NGK have "built in" anti seize in the treads. basically, any silver thread from them does not need it.

As for torquing, I have never done it. With the NGK plug you can use an angle torque, Never had an issue with breaking a plug or it coming loose. Can't say the same for some that have tried to torque it down.

Rocker lash locknut is no more than 6ftlbs, I do 5.5 all equal works the best. I push on rocker to squeeze out oil w/measuring. If you use anti seize wipe off all excess, I don't use it much.

Can you remember what size the lash locknut is? 10mm?
 
Again, given that this is a Stelvio section, and that I've checked my valves maybe 4-6 times in 28,000 Kms in 6 months, why would my antipodean brethren be espousing all these different sizes, when I am telling you that the valve lash adjuster is 8mm, Oswald killed Kennedy, the moon landings were real, the earth is not flat, Elvis is really dead and again the valve lash adjuster nut for a Moto Guzzi Stelvio of 2015-2016 is 8mm:punch::punch::punch:

But my Stelvio....it's 8mm......and again, I would not worry about torquing it. Just needs to be wrench tight. When you get that low on a torque spec the chances of over torquing increases unless the nut is completely dry and your wrench is calibrated in that range. Also, when you are tightening the locking nut, you want to hold the adjuster screw in place so it does not move while tightening or you will be chasing your tail to get the right gap. Can't do that with a socket on it.

Just my experience so take it for what it is.

I find that on some fasteners like this one or spark plugs, valve covers and so on. You have to forget the torque wrench and use common sense tightness and the feel of the wrench in your hand.

Menard's sells a 8mm combo wrench made in USA for $4.89. Looks like that's my play...
