Hi there , long time lurker , second time poster. My 2023 V85TT won't start. Just had the first service and rode it a couple of times with no issues last fall, then I didn't ride it for about six weeks. Went to go for a ride and the dash displays a check engine light, and the fuel pump doesn't make any noise that I would expect when turning the key.

Some searching here has divulged thatbyou see a lot of issues from sitting prolonged periods. Charged the battery back fully, checked all the fuses. Anything else I should check before hauling it the 3 hours to the dealer?

Does the starter turn the motor normally? Are there any pop up messages on the dash?

No, starter does not activate at all. Just the usual insert your personal code message that it always displays, and the check engine light. I haven't changed the code from the original 5 zeroes

The "insert personal code" message is because you have not set a personal code. It will go away once you set a code (make sure to write it down in the manual and on another paper to keep with the bike documents). Double-check the obvious things like side stand retracted, gearbox in neutral, and clutch lever pulled in (to cover all interlock bases). If your battery is in good condition (so that it can deliver high starting current while maintaining adequate voltage) and is fully charged, then we cannot offer much additional guidance without knowing the diagnostic trouble code(s) that caused the check engine light. You could disconnect the battery and make sure it is fully charged before reconnecting in a final attempt to clear the issue. Since it is under warranty and you need a way to read trouble codes, you can plan on hauling it to your dealer if the battery disconnect/reconnect does not help.

Was afraid of that, thanks for the help

Oh shit, it just started! No idea why. I pushed in the engine kill switch and could hear the contacts engage. Pushed it again with engine in neutral and clutch pulled and side stand up. Roared to life! Gonna go for a ride
I never put a code in either of my v85's. It eventually quit asking.
It's real esay to hit that kill switch.
Yeah, but I'm virtually positive I tried that after the initial problem after it sat for six weeks. But not sure if I tried it after the battery was recharged.
