Thanks for getting back with me and your brutal honesty on the mpg. Please tell me that was with 2 up riding since that is probably 85% of what I do.
I guess now this leads to another question. What exactly were the fuel mods that were done on your bike?
Thanks,
Dave
Hi Clayton,
I'm wondering with your experience having the modified (gutted) stock mufflers installed did you feel a need to do any fuel modifications because of the change? I know Todd feels a fuel modification is in order for any changes (including stock) in the mufflers but I would like your...
I also got in the habit of not boasting about the reliability of the bike because sure enough something (with my luck) will happen. I always qualify my remarks with "hopefully" just to be on the safe side. Yea, I know, I'm a little weird.
Heck, they have bed races, lawn mower races, races with people on their hand and knees pushing eggs with a spoon in their mouth among many others Racing is racing no matter how you do it or what you're on.
I just reread this post and realized that it states Adventure Motorsports is in Tallahassee. They are in Pensacola and is where I purchased my MG 1400 with great satisfaction.
I would find it hard to believe there is any "standard" we'd all agree on for length of time based on distance before the turn signal shuts off. Some people take it slow and some let's just say are quicker. I enjoy passing the slow pokes with a quick burst of throttle but with that comes the...
I know someone else also mentioned their concern with the look of the 180 from the rear as compared to the 200 and having seen both on the bike, do you see a marked difference in the look of the bike from the rear?
Thanks,
Dave
Sorry for my lack of specificity. I was focused on the 180 tire width which is less than the 200. I suppose to be fair we would also have to look at rim size too to evaluate performance.
Something I'd like to add is that I've noticed a definite improvement in my ability to maneuver the bike around in close quarters. I wouldn't have believed that what, an inch more pull back over stock would make that much of a noticeable difference but it sure did with me.
Dave
I just noticed in the 2016 MG Eldorado ad it states that the rear tire on it is a 180. Being basically the same bike other than the rims I'd say we might be good to go with the 180.
I'd be curious to see what the back of the bike looked like with a 180 on it. I like that the handling seems to improve but I still do like the look of the big tire. Can't have it both ways I guess.
Well that's another way of looking at things (i.e. glass half full or half empty). Personally I would be more interested in knowing the mileage I have left before empty(at a glance) at my current speed versus how far I've driven since the low fuel light came on, but that's the way it's designed...
I'd like to know if anyone has had any experience with applying/using clear paint protection film on their saddlebags. I've got a 1400 touring and with my shorter legs I've scuffed the top of right saddlebag swinging my leg over it.
Any comments/solutions would be appreciated.
Dave
I just installed them on my touring model and they really do make a positive difference in my posture and arm position while sitting on the bike.
I'll have to plan a longer route to see if this alleviates my neck/shoulder pain that I experienced but I'm thinking it will.
The great thing about...
That was my point of slowing down to 50 mph. Obviously if you slow down you will go farther on the remaining fuel. I've ridden my roadking after the reserve light came on but didn't notice the exact time it came on so I didn't know exactly when I was going to be on the side of the road. When...
One question for you, are down to the last bar when you get the light or the second to last? On my bike shortly after the purchase I was riding along fat dumb and happy thinking that I had one more bar to go when I suddenly got the low fuel light and a message stating I had 3.5 miles to empty...
