Hot Day - Oil Light !

Hello Had a few erands to run yesterday, Saturday, around Dallas, 95 degrees in the sun. Bike was warm, I could feel it. However after about 1 hour of riding both stop and go and highway. Was in stop and go traffic and the RED warning lamp came on and the OIL cal illuminated on the display. I...

    Griso to Norge Anyone?

Hello; I have had both a Griso and a Norge (4 and 8 valve) ... So the Griso was only 4 valve, but I have ridden the 8V. However, my thinking is not related to engine performance but to handling. I find that the Norge, with it slightly shorter wheel base handles a bit more "flickable" than the...

    2008 Norge question

Hello; I would agree that it is probably the fuel filter.. It is internal in the tank, along with the pump assembly. Good news, easy to get the pump out of the tank... Not so good news.. The quick disconnect for the fuel is not so quick. Search here for good instructions... Pull the tank...

    Oils and Thoughts

Hello; Both engines were specified to use 10/60 oil... I don't think there is a reasonable debate, especially when one side is not presenting any facts.. only opinion based on a data point of 1 or 2. Where as I am reasonably sure Piaggio engineering did a more exhaustive review of the impact of...

    Oils and Thoughts

So.. Why NOT comply with the Manufacturer's specification? Have you done the engineering? Have you done the testing? (in a controlled environment?) There have been reports of intermittent oil lamps coming on if you are not using the MGF's spec. That is because the oil pressure sensor is...

    Norge Starts in gear

Hi Dave: Re: The oil light.... Use the recommended 10-60 oil. There have been reports of faulty oil lamp indications with anything else. It has to do with improper pressure reading caused by the weight of any oil other than recommended.

    Norge Starts in gear

Hello; So several items are in the loop, Gear Box, Clutch, Side Stand, (not center stand). When all logic seems to escape the diagnosis... Pull the positive side of the battery and re-boot the bike... You will loose your clock, but it also re-sets the ECU (both of them- dash and engine). If...

Hi Dave; I did find a reference to them http://www.piaggiospares.co.uk/spares/e ... 3.74&uid=0 But I don't think they fit the 8V models... Yes you do have to put holes in the fairing. I contacted the dealer whose website this is linked to, He said he could supply, but never did answer my...

Interesting new sound from my Norge

Hi Dave; I am beginning to suspect our 'old friend' the evap canister.... I have to get it spun up again so see if I can make it do the sound again, then pop the gas cap and see if the pressure relieves... If it does.. The evap canister is HISTORY!

Interesting new sound from my Norge

Hello ALL; So, it is not the Voltage Regulator.. .Just ran a test... Voltage at battery 14.1 at idle, 14.1 at 3000 rpm, 14.1 at 6000 rpm Measured both on Dash and by FET VM... Have to get the bike HOT again to see if it returns. Thanks to all for the suggestions .

Interesting new sound from my Norge

Hi John; So, the ABS system is quiet! That is what I suspected at first. This noise is clearly coming from the Left Rear (as you face forward) corner of the battery. I haven't pulled to cover off the battery holder.. Have a couple of things to do this morning, and then I'm going to start...
