Le Mans IV 1985 left carb leaking. What to look for first?

OK now I understand what is meant by floats "leaking" coming from Bing where the floats are some kind of aggregated cork that are not hollow.. I will consume all the material before touching this great bike! Very grateful to all who took the time to respond.

Le Mans IV 1985 left carb leaking. What to look for first?

Thank you all. Very much appreciated. I will probably adjust and change the floats plus float needles. They do get heavier with age. As I may sell this bike I would not want to pass the issue to the future owner.

Le Mans IV 1985 left carb leaking. What to look for first?

Symptom: when one of the petcocks of my bike is open and the engine is not running, gas starts to leak from the left carb via the air filer. When running no issue. My knowledge of carbs is limited to Bing carbs and I have yet to grasp the concept of a "pumper carb". As a first assumption, I...

    Where to get parts

I need to find a few plastic screws for fairing and side covers in the US or Europe. I used to go to Harpers but now they are out of business. Many searches I have made at many places in Germany or France no longer carry the part I am looking for. example GU98326014 Short of using a metal screw...

are there vacuum ports ion the dellorto carbs?

Another newbie question. On many 2 cylinder bikes one can balance carbs using vacuum ports on cabs or injectors. I looked a the docs and cannot find any on my Le Mans IV. Am I missing anything? If not how does one balance carbs?

Fork bottoming out when bracking hard at low speed

Thank you Per the guzziology bible version 9 page 570 the Le mans 4 did not have the bitubo until 1986 so my bike may not have it. I will try to find out the best way to handle this. Either by replacing whatever is there by progressive springs or Bitubo ( Part 28526477 is available in Italy).

Fork bottoming out when bracking hard at low speed

I referenced the forum at bike-urious.com/bought-on-bike-urious-1985-moto-guzzi-le-mans-1000-mkiv/ My 85 Le mans has a oil/pneumatic fork and I am trying to understand why it is bottoming out if I brake suddenly. It is clear that when this happens the top part of the fork is hitting something...

    1970s (1976?) Le Mans - pix

haha. You are correct! Sorry I got busy Actually my family comes from not far away from Astérix home! If one day you want to sell it let me know. given the parts that are hard to find it would cost 2X the price to bring it back to its former glory.

    1970s (1976?) Le Mans - pix

Great bike. I love the real Moto Guzzi signs glued to the tank and side covers, not just stickers like in mine. I remember the 2 stroke Motobécanes! even the short-lived 350cc 3 cyclinders one. This Le Mans looks absolutely terrific. There is probably a few thousand $/Euros needed to bring...

Le Mans IV 1985 turn signals out. Quick question

Thanks and agreed completely with going for the simplest explanation. The turn signals were working intermittently. So I tried to look for a grounding issue. The left back signal was not grounded properly so I added a wire connected to the chassis to ensure proper grounding. Seems to work so far...

Le Mans IV 1985 turn signals out. Quick question

Thanks to all. I fixed this by doing exactly nothing. As I was starting the investigation Ohm-meter and schematics in hand, I tried the blinkers and magically they worked again. I noticed that the left hand command felt differently and "clicked" in position better. No doubt this issue will...
