00000 Immobilizer Code Question

Several of us on WildGuzzi are of differing opinions about whether it is necessary to input a personal 5 digit user code to be used in the event the immobilizer (antenna, etc) failed.

I'm under the impression that the 00000 code from the factory is a default code that could be used to start the bike if the immobilizer failed to recognize the ignition key. Yes, I do get the reminder message every time I start the bike(s), telling me to install my personal code. But I chose to use 00000, since that's a number I know I can remember.

Others think it is necessary to input a personal 5 digit code that would be used to start the bike in the case of immobilizer failure. Without having inputted this code, I would not be able to start my bike if the immobilizer failed.

Can someone tell me which it is? A or B?
A. I do not have to enter a custom code, and could use 00000 if the immobilizer failed.
B. I must enter a custom 5 digit code, and use it if the immobilizer failed.

Thanks for the help.

Bob

Bob, 00000 is not any type of default code. Read it won't get you into anything unless you enter it as the end user.
If you want the "Enter User Code" on start up to stop, I highly recommend using the Guzzi service code as shown here; https://www.guzzitech.com/forum/196/917 - for each model. It makes it possible for the next owner to not have to spend a great deal of time and money in trying to find it or replace the dash. Please do not copy/paste my reply, rather a link to this thread is appreciated.
