'03 Stone Fuel indicator light

Hi everyone,

I have an 03 Stone with a faulty fuel indicator light. It didn't work when I got the bike so the dealer (now defunct) gave me a new sending unit. I have installed it and the light still doesn't work. I have checked the bulb and with voltage applied directly, and it functions. Any ideas where I should look next?

Disconnect the sender, and short the wire from the bulb to the frame. If the bulb glows, then the (new) sender is faulty. These senders are not a float and contacts arrangement, but a solid state device that changes resistance when it is surrounded with fuel or not.

You might be able to set up a test bed outside of the tank to check the sender independently. I'd be looking for another replacement if the test above checked out the bulb and power circuit.
